About Trustees

Trustees are often the unsung heroes of Voluntary and Charitable organisations, providing an invaluable role of governance, with all its associated responsibilities, on a voluntary basis.

In the Eastern Region there are over 98,000 Trustees responsible for the governance of over 32,000 charities.

• Employing nearly 500,000 staff

• Supervising over 11 million volunteers

• Managing assets of £70 billion.

As with any role, a Trustee can only fulfil all their obligations if they trained in the roles and responsibilities.

How often have you heard a Trustee say "I have been a Trustee for years, I don't need any training" ?

Unfortunately, we often find that at least 10% of Trustees who attend our training / workshops were unaware of their full roles and legal responsibilities, which in some cases meant their organisations were operating in breach of the law.
